SWIM Nation, The sermon entitled Lord, I need patience was given on 17 Aug 14 by Pastor William Gairy. Key Scripture: Gal 5:22 Key Points: When we understand who we are in God, we can say it is well with my soul. We understand how to wait on God. But we must build ourselves up in God. We must continue to encourage ourselves in the Lord. The Lord wants people that will rep for Him. He wants to rep through us. When we are willing vessels, He will rep through us. ---People are in 3 Places 1. Establishing relationship- At the foot of the cross but havent gone any further. 2. Developing relationship- In control of our walk with Him. 3. Maturing relationship- Walking the way God calls us to walk. Gods intent. It is what we must maintain and we will see the world as God sees it. The 3 points of Patience: What patience is, why it is so hard to have, and how to display it in life. 1. Patience is the ability to accept delay or disappointment graciously. Our default reaction is to respond with anger when something happens. Gods grace can control our personality so we can respond like God. We should want to look like Jesus because He is victory. The mother of impatience is anger but patience is the long fuse that God gives us to not loose our cool. 2.Patience is rare (valuable)because its contrary to our nature and our culture. We are not wired to be patient but when we are patient, we practice love. As we mature in our life we become more patient which is driven by love. 3.Patience is calm endurance under pressure, knowing that God is in control. Sometimes we try to avoid pressure but pressure can be good. We have to get to a point to know God is in control. Patience developes perseverance. It enables us to stand and the test of faith produces patience. How to develop more patience? 1. Identify your impatience triggers. Dont pacify it. When you expose the triggers, you can confront them to deal with them. 2. Dont swat the small stuff. The only thing we should be seating is our relationship with our creator. 3. Slow down and trust God. Enjoy the presence of the Lord. There is no end to His patience but there will be an end to the life and to His offer to except His offer of eternal life. Will you trust Him with your life?
