SYDNEY WEEKENDER Dubbo will feature in a new episode of Sydney Weekender, thanks to a partnership with the NSW Government to promote great family experiences on offer outside of Sydney, Member for Dubbo Troy Grant announced today. “I am delighted that this week’s episode of the popular Sydney Weekender series, secured by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, will feature Dubbo, giving people in Sydney and across the State added inspiration to plan a visit to our region,” Mr Grant said. Set to air at 5.30pm this Saturday 30 August on the Seven Network in Sydney and on the PRIME Network across NSW and ACT, the episode features four destinations in NSW that make for great school holiday getaways. “The episode will include an entire segment focusing on Taronga Western Plains Zoo, and the fantastic Zoofari Lodge accommodation giving families an opportunity to get behind the scenes at the Zoo and stay in luxury tented accommodation overlooking the Savannah,” Mr Grant said. “The Zoofari Lodge recently underwent a $2.1 million makeover, and I am delighted this will be showcased by Sydney Weekender to encourage families to visit Dubbo and the Zoo this spring.” Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner said school holidays represented an important opportunity for the NSW tourism industry to attract intrastate and interstate visitors. “In the year ended March 2014, holiday or leisure was the number one reason domestic travellers visited NSW, and most domestic visitors came from Regional NSW and Sydney,” Mr Stoner said. “It is important we continue to promote the variety of destinations and experiences on offer across NSW to help grow visitation, and Sydney Weekender is an ideal program through which to do this.”
