Sabbatical dialogue cityfm guest Dima Project Alien24. Premiere Alien24-Music in my soul I:Moving on to something else, we could try air the ‘Music in my soul’ song for the first time. D: Could you really do that? I: Yes. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we don’t just get to listen to Dima Bilan, but we also get to witness a new release. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this song is part of your side-project in which you go back to your roots, isn’t it? It’s the Vitya Belan project, right? D: Look, there were many working titles for this project; it’s just been a long time coming. I guess we can just say it’s a different kind of music. It’s inspired by various childhood memories: Space and Zodiac with their own music style and Daft Punk, well actually Kraftwerk. To be honest, I don’t like to talk too much about it and explain things. I prefer the music speaking for itself. I: Just one question: whose work is this, Dima Bilan or Vitya Belan? D: This is stuff I write during the night and whenever I’ve got time really. And when there is a tune to work with, it all comes together with some rhythm and drums as a result of the effort that Andrey Chornyi, my partner in this project, and myself put in. We polish the sound until it gets that little something to make it interesting. The point is to come up with a distinct music, language, gravity if you like.
