Sad Reality. While riding a tricycle passing along Hernan Cortes Street, Mandaue City, coming from the office, I overheard the conversation of the tricycle driver and one passenger. Passenger: Dugaya aning road construction nahuman oi! (This road construction is a delay!) Tricycle Driver: Bitaw bai. Usa ka adlaw, naa koy nakit-an nga trabahante relax kaayo tunga-tunga sa trabaho, akong gipangutana. Wala lage ka gatrabaho bai? Dugay dugay na ni inyong ayo-ayo sa dalan noh? (Yes. One day, i observed one worker relaxing in the middle of the work and i asked him, Why you didnt work? Your road construction has been happening for a long time, right?) Construction Worker: Dugay dugay na pud. Php 220 ra man gud inadlaw. Layo ra sa minimum. Alkanse mi. Aw, dili pud ko pa alkanse. Uwan, init mi diri sa dalan. (Yes, its been a long while. Our daily wage is only 220 pesos, far from the minimum one. Its our loss. Well, I could not earn a loss. Rain or shine, we are here on the road.) Well, what can i say?
