Sad and bewildered today in humankind. Still trying to find my feet after a sucker punch to the gut this morning at work. I know its all part of business, but when youre in the business of trying to help people and this happens, it takes the cake. A brand new Dairydell training contact walked in and said she had been talking with a other people with a different training philosophy that ours. All good so far. She had yet to take a class with us, and we enjoy presenting training alternatives. She then let loose the most hateful, vicious tirade of accusations and insults about my business, our training, and me personally. (I wont even repeat what she called me - to my husband, no less.) Keep in mind I dont even KNOW this woman but obviously the others had planted the hateful seed and it had quickly taken root as truth in her mind. This morning I experienced the power of hate and the dark side of human nature and realized how vulnerable we all are to it. Theres a human appetite for gossip and instinctive eagerness to pile on and destroy (watch a hockey game sometime!) Theres no logic involved -- just instinct and emotion. So theres no protection against it. Its unnerving. So I will do the only thing I know: IN THE FACE OF LIES, LIVE THE TRUTH. If this person goes Yelp on me in a final coup de gras of destruction, I may be calling on my friends to rally and fight those lies with truth. Ill call it the Dairydell Defense League. :-) Hope youre with me. Man -- never has the phrase, no good deed goes unpunished seemed more true.
