Sad news over the Christmas holidays for a local soccer/hockey family. Chris Millerwood, father of Austin & Allan, husband of Heather, lost his battle with Cancer on December 22nd. Chris, a long time resident of West Carleton, was very involved in the community. He volunteered with his sons teams over the years and served on the Board of Directors of the WCSC. Chris was instrumental in bringing back the TALONS to West Carleton Soccer. His son Austin currently plays on a WC Bantam A team. On Friday, January 9, the two West Carleton Bantam A hockey teams will be playing each other at 8:30 pm at the W. Erskine Johnston Arena in Carp. During this game they will be having a 50/50 fundraiser in support of the Millerwood family. The draw will take place at the end of the game and there will be a few words of tribute. Several Talons players are on the 2 hockey teams that will be playing, and the Bantam A1 team will be wearing green hockey socks in honour of Chris contribution to soccer. They will also have hotdogs and drinks for sale at the game.
