Sad news to report from the Korn family. Shane Gibson, who performed as a live member for Korn from 2007-2010, has passed away at the age of 35 from complications due to a blood clotting disorder. After the departure of Brian ‘Head’ Welch, Korn chose not to replace their longtime guitarist, instead opting to hire live performers to fill Welch’s sonic space. After guitarists Rob Patterson and Sevendust’s Clint Lowrey finished their respective stints with Korn, Shane Gibson was recruited in 2007 and stuck with Korn until leaving in 2010. Gibson even took over lead guitar for Korn when Munky was absent from the band for a brief time in 2008. Gibson went on to play with SchwarZenatoR, stOrk and others, also contributing to Korn singer Jonathan Davis‘ solo album ‘Jonathan David and the SFA.’ Since Gibson’s death, the guitarist’s personal Facebook page has been flooded by heartfelt condolences. As of this posting, Facebook memorials have been piling up on the late Gibson’s Facebook feed, almost without one full minute passing before a new tribute is added.
