Sad that the price of your favorite fruit or vegetable is inflated during the off-season? Laugh at the natural order and garden indoors! Manually pollinate those flowers to have ripe melons in the middle of winter! Alternately, you can make some exotic dishes by using the flowers themselves - Squash blossoms, stuffed with italian herbs and ricotta, rolled in butter and bread crumbs, then baked is crazy delicious. I mean, youre already subverting seasonal cycles. May as well try new foods while youre at it.
