Sadden today by the loss of an old friend. When I say old, I mean from a long time ago, 1993 to be exact. It was my 3rd year skiing for Sea World and Jeff Schmick was THE GUY if you know what I mean :) He would leave on the weekends to go ski THE TOUR and we all, meaning, everyone on my cover photo, wish we had his talents and his life. Everything was effortless, 1 ski mobes, BBF, doubles.. heck, even swivel skiing :) Jeff taught me airchair gainers, he said just go out there and chuck it and eventually youll get around :) I did eventually get around and while he was on tour one weekend, I was put in his spot in the show, I landed my first gainer in the LAST show of the day and earned a case of beer from Dave Dotter and Jeff Stoskopf. The great thing about being a live show guy back in the days of SKI SHOWS, is that it is so easy to go back to that summer, that moment, that smell and .... hang out for a while.... There are very few of us in the professional waterski community and those on here get what Im saying :) So, Jeff, youre missed, thanks for the airchair gainers, the case of beer, the memories and the ability to go back in time and have a laugh. Heres to your next journey my friend, where I know you will end up teaching some more :) R.I.P. but do it with the speed and finesse that always amazed us.
