Sadly for the third time we are sharing their story CeCe and - TopicsExpress

Sadly for the third time we are sharing their story CeCe and Fruit Loop , Sigh.... They have quite the story. Both were left at our shelter back in 2013. Both were in terrible condition clearly neglected, left in a pen when we were closed, they looked like dirty mops more than dogs... Groomed and vetted what a happy day for all when they were both adopted out together. November 2014, we received a call from a very high kill shelter. They both were picked up wandering the streets. Their adopter no longer wanted them so the shelter called to let us know they had both dogs and if we wanted them back. I asked are they at risk? A very cold and matter of fact response I received. Yes, if not picked up by 5 pm tomorrow we will be euthanizing them. I asked why, they said unadoptable, they are too old. I called their original foster mamma Darlene. Both her and I and another staffer went to the high kill shelter more than an hour away and picked them up. I was so shocked how the shelter was. We entered the building and it was more of a jail then a shelter. No animals to greet us, no smiling faces. I told them who we were and a few minutes later CeCe and Fruit Loop were brought to us. Both only had been held at this shelter for 23 hours but it was clear. They were placed in cages and left. They both were matted with poop, dripping wet with urine. It took all we had not to burst into tears. Darlene picked one baby up wet, and poopy, not caring and hugged him tight. Staffer Jane picked up the other and smothered him with kisses. The staff at the shelter looked at us like we were from another planet . I asked what had been done medically, nothing they said they were scheduled to be euthanized, disgusted we left. Both went into foster care with Darlene. After a battle with a terrible case of kennel cough we were able to get them healthy enough to be adopted. Both were adopted together, we were sure they were finally home. Sadly this week they came back. See, both older and clearly had been used for nothing but breeding they have struggled so with separation issues and house training. One dog with these issues is hard enough , but even harder with two. No fault of the adopter or the dogs it simply was too much. Both are back at the shelter today So, we are once again looking for homes for these two. They do not need to be adopted together. Perhaps they should not be. As we stated, struggles with house training and separation issues. Both are special need dogs to the fullest. They have been tossed from place to place, I can not blame them for having separation issues, I would to! We know they are old, they pee on the floor once in a while, cry a little too much. But all they want is to be loved, a warm lap to sleep on and a family to call their own for what remaining time they have left. These two do not deserve to be at our shelter, or to die simply because they have had a rough life and are labeled as too old. We are looking for that special family or families that can look past the dogs issues and give one or both a TRUE FOREVER HOME . Trust me the staff and foster mamma Darlene will drill any applicant to make sure they understand it is FOREVER this time. Really hoping we can make these babies dreams comes true. Haven’t they been through enough? Both males , CeCe, black and Fruit loop is white. Neutered, heart worm negative, current on all shots and chipped free with a very approved application. (The pink bow was for breast cancer awareness week. He is a boy :) Ages are 10-11 yrs old
