Sadly, so many of the facts regarding abuse in detention centres - TopicsExpress

Sadly, so many of the facts regarding abuse in detention centres are hidden and we really arent told the truth. Too often stop the boats is an argument purported by middle-class politicians who have never been persecuted for their race or religious choice. Its a blind belief that Australia has no responsibility for refugees. We are a signatory of the UN convention relating to refugees, we have a very clear obligation (as far back as 1954) to NEVER turn its back on vulnerable groups escaping persecution. Stopping the boats and refusing people from seeking asylum is not humane. Its not even helping - no one benefits in this scenario. Arriving by boat has always happened. The Dutch did it, the British did it, the Irish, even the maoris. But with less rape, torture and deaths. I just wish santa gave us all some truth this xmas. Terra Nullius anyone? Please remember the truth these holy daze, Itll look good on you, i promise
