“Safety Town”, hosted by the American Red Cross, is a dynamic and interactive week in which children entering kindergarten learn from experts how to be safe in many situations. The children learn about car and pedestrian safety on a tarp displaying a town complete with wooden buildings, streets, crosswalks, stop signs, and parking spaces. The children will travel through the town on their own little pedal cars. (too cute!) During the week Safety Town is visited by Public Safety personnel who share their expertise in an age appropriate and interactive manner. The young students learn the rules of riding a bus and much more. The daily activities are reinforced by the teachers with lessons, games and coloring books. We thank this years Safety Town cooridinators; Mary Jones, Barbara DeGaetani, Esme Ingledew, and Carol Sabato and of course Mary Young for including us in this wonderful program!
