Safety alert for Table View area (window removal) Submitted by carlavanstaden on Fri, 09/06/2013 - 09:27 TVNW has noticed a significant increase in the number of burglaries in our area with the following Modus Operandi: Entry to the house is gained by removing the whole window pane. in other words part of frame and glass. Mostly aluminium frames but some wood frames too. The glass is not broken but removed as whole put down on the ground. Most of the incidents are where there are no burgular bars. Most are taking place between 2am and 7am in the morning. Some cases have been where there has been electrified fencing. Most are on the front windows of the houses that are visible from the road. These criminals appear to be after electronic items such as laptops, music equipment, cellphones, cameras, wallets and so forth. Burglaries have been prevented by dogs inside the house barking and waking residents and by alarms being activated. Criminals may be planning their crimes by jumping over your walls in advance and/or photographing homes in advance as well. Please be aware of the above, protect your home accordingly, and report any suspicious activity to SAPS or TVNW. *Article written by Belinda Carlsson
