Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue added 9 new photos to the album Cats with FIV looking for a second chance — at Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. We have three beautiful female felines who have been diagnosed with FIV: Merry (charcoal), Colette (black) and Tawnie (light grey tabby). They were part of the recent NBSPCA seizure. These cats deserve a second chance. They do not deserve to live the rest of their lives in a kennel but we cannot let them free roam at the shelter. They have been vetted and the following info was given: ~FIV is more difficult to transmit (eg. mainly through bite wounds, not through sharing a food bowl, nose to nose, etc) Ideal home is a single cat home (remaining indoors) Being in the Shelter is a risk to them (immune compromised plus if they pick up URTI, will shed readily to other cats and spread).~ For further information on FIV, please read this link and, if you are interested in adopting one of these cats, please consult with your vet. vet.cornell.edu/FHC/health_resources/brochure_fiv.cfm If you are willing to be the one who gives any of these cats a second chance, please contact the shelter at 642-0920 ext 5. If you cannot adopt, please share our album so these cats can find the home they deserve.
