Saint Joseph the Worker God is trustworthy. Here I am, Lord, still basking in the fragrances of Easter flowers and oils. Here I am, still just beginning the fifty days of joy-filled alleluias. Here I am, still trying to come to terms with what happened to me when I became part of the paschal mystery. Can this good news really be true? Is Gods love for the world so fierce and powerful that it pulled you from the grave, and can do the same for me? Your life, death, and resurrection certify that God is trustworthy. But Jesus, deep in my heart, I fear that this is all too wonderful to be true. Forgive me, Lord, I am human and still think of things in earthly terms. But in the paschal mystery you open my mind to things from above, and you invite me to share in this world above-- not that I might leave earthly things behind, but so that I might bring to them your self-sacrificing love. Lord, you say the gift of the Spirit is not rationed. Flood me with this gift, so that I might truly believe, and truly share in your love. Help me to see more as God sees, and to live and love in you-- the one from heaven who is above all.
