Saint Patrick Day is a religious holiday......Patrick was a young slave hundreds of years ago who brought Christianity (CATHOLICISM) to Ireland and he rose to great prominence which itself was important as Ireland was later the main place where those who spread Christianity (missionaries) came from. So he is looked upon even after centuries have passed with great respect especially with those in Ireland who use the day to celebrate their Irish heritage. Unfortunately, its now just an excuse by many to just go out and get drunk! So if you really want to celebrate St.Patricks day shouldnt you spend the evening in church.......just saying because Ive never need an excuse to drink
