Saint Paul of the Cross, pray for us! But God said to him, ‘You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?’ Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God.” Lk 12: 20-21 For most of us, our desire to be physically comfortable tends to outweigh our desire to be right with God. We store up treasure for ourselves like the man in the parable, putting our own needs before those of the poor. Did you know that there is enough food on our planet so that there is no reason for anyone to be hungry? We store food up, we throw it our, we burn perfectly good crops to keep prices where they should be; all while children starve. This is a good deal of what matters to God. What can you do differently in your life to help those who dont have what they need?
