Saint Thomas Aquinas School Summer Newsletter Submitted by: Gary M. Rand II Dear STA Family, I hope and pray that you are having an enjoyable and restful summer vacation. It is hard to believe that we are approaching the month of August. We have been working very hard to get things in place this year and are looking forward to another fantastic year at St. Thomas Aquinas School. As we work through the last few weeks of the summer, I wanted to remind you about a few things for everybody to get prepared for the school year. Summer Packets – Please make sure that all students are working on their summer packets and that they are completed for the first day of school. If any parents still need any materials, please contact the school office. Registration – Any family who has not completed registration needs to do so as soon as possible. We are in the process of ordering supplies and additional materials to get prepared for the school year. If you have any questions about the process, please email Mr. Rand at [email protected] FACTS – If you have not yet registered for your FACTS account, please do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the process, please contact Ms. Melanie at school 410-889-4618. It is essential for all of our families to be registered prior to the beginning of the school year. Thank you in advance for completing this process. STA Wildcats at Play – We have made some adjustments for the year for our aftercare program. We will be extending our aftercare program to 6:00 PM this year to make it easier for our school parents to plan for their schedules. Each parent will be getting a new flyer explaining the expectations for this year in their return packet information prior to the school year beginning. Mr. Rand will be working with the aftercare staff to register, track, and work with our school families to make this program that we are all proud of at STA. STA Annual Golf Tournament – STA will be hosting our 13th Annual Golf Tournament on August 12, 2013. We will once again be hosting this event at Mount Pleasant Golf Course. We are still looking for golfers to participate. If you would like to participate or have any questions about registering, please call Larry Glose at 410-377-4684. Flyers will be available at school and we will also include a PDF with this newsletter. Additional Important Dates and Events – All school parents/ guardians need to make sure they are prepared for the following dates: 1. Parent packet pick-up and supply drop off dates and teacher meet and greet (August 22nd – 2:00 – 4:00 PM)/ (August 23rd – 12:00 – 2:00 PM) 2. Monday -First Day of School – August 26th – 12:00 Noon Dismissal 3. Tuesday – August 27th – 12:00 Noon Dismissal 4. Wednesday – August 28th – First Full Day of School 5. Thursday – Augusts 29th – Full Day of School 6. Friday – August 30th – NO SCHOOL 7. Monday – September 2nd – NO SCHOOL (Labor Day) 8. Tuesday – September 3rd – School Resumes – Full Day of School (First Day of Aftercare) 9. Wednesday, September 4th – Back to School Night – 6:00 PM in Gymnasium 10. Thursday/ Friday (Full Days) The complete school calendar will be distributed when you pick up your materials on August 22nd or 23rd. If a family is unable to pick-up the materials they will be available with the homeroom teacher. We have a number of great things that I will be reviewing with the school community on Back to School Night. We are celebrating a special year this year (STA School’s 140th Anniversary), and are looking forward to a collaborative educational effort to do all we can to make our school the very best it can be.
