Saint of the day, St. Rosalia Saint Rosalia is the patron of Palermo and Sicily, Italy. St. Rosalia was a Christian woman who left her life of wealth and comfort to follow Christ in complete solitude. Tradition holds that St. Rosalia was led by two angels to a cave where she would spend the rest of her life in prayer and works of penance. During a time when a plague was ravaging Palermo, her relics were discovered in the cave by a hunter. He paraded her relics in the city, which resulted in effectively ending the plague. St. Rosalia is credited with saving the city. St. Rosalias feast day is September 4th
