Sakorintlo, Kvemo Chala and Samtavisi problems Representatives of the Bridge of Friendship – Kartlosi Youth Self-Governance Group and of the Georgian Media Group studied problems on the spot at Sakorintlo, Kvemo Chala and Samtavisi villages of Kaspi Municipality. According to locals, Sakorintlo village will soon be without population. It is already almost impossible to see any youth in the given village on the ABL. Locals claim as reason for this the grave situation in the village. Sakorintlo agricultural lands have remained at the occupied territory. Headworks of irrigation water are also beyond the occupation line due to which the village is without water for orchards and gardens. All this results in significant decrease of harvest; meanwhile it is the primary source of income for locals. Supply of drinking water is also unstable. Road leading to the village is also unorganized, which makes it problematic to get to Sakorintlo during rain and snow. Locals also face heating problem during winter. Despite the fact that natural gas system has been installed in the village, locals are unable to use the gas, as they cannot afford it. Another important problem is security; locals say that Russian military often detain local residents for “trespassing” the ABL. Kvemo Chala and Samtavisi population faces the same problems. According to Kaspi Municipality Gamgebeli Gocha Gochitashvili, rehabilitation of the road to Sakorintlo, rehabilitation of irrigation system is scheduled for the nearest future. Representatives of the Youth Self-Governance Group and of the Georgian Media Group continue on-the-spot studying of problems at the ABL villages in Shida Kartli region.
