Salam sister, how are you? Do you know much about Germinomas tumor in the ovary? I read the message and remember a woman I met years ago with this type of Cancer... I type what I remember, assuming this woman knows someone with this type of cancer and put my phone down. It beeps. I open it and what I read makes me shake uncontrollably. I want to crush the phone between my fingers... My mind is screaming Dear God what is happening... The woman with ovarian cancer is not a woman at all. Shes an 8 year old child whose ovary twisted...twice and during surgery was found to have the old womans disease in her pre-pubescent, little girl body. Her mother goes on to tell me about how her little angel she needs to have more surgery to remove the ovary and see if the contents spilled out of the ovary...if the cancer has spread. As I read the conversation she had with her daughter who asked if she would be able to have babies I felt my mouth dry and my throat being squeezed... No parent should have to have this conversation with an eight year old child... She asks me what she should do. My blood runs cold...I wish I had the answers... I cant tell you what to do. God chose you because he knew you could be trusted with that responsibility. All I can tell you is that you must accept that whatever decision you made you made the best decision for her based on the information and options you have... We end with prayers for each other and I promise her I will pray for her as I would Zeinab...and you will too... Maybe some of you think that your prayers dont mean anything... But I want you to imagine this was your little girl... You would stand on the door of the mosque or church or synagogue or temple and beg for people to remember your child...to help you to flood the heavens with the sound of prayer. Now I ask you to pray for this little girl...the daughter of Melanie the way you would beg for someone to pray for your little girl...
