Salon Olivier Update 3-27-14 We have been in business for 7 months now. We have a full house and things are picking up speed. I am still at my day job, but the time is quickly approaching when I will need to focus on Salon Olivier full time. We have 14 people working with us and they are an amazing group of people. I am sorry I didnt get before and after of the Upper Cottage/Building B/Maison De Beaute...We were so busy I didnt have time before the contractors started, to take any walk through video. Which is sad because the before and after is striking. We tore off the roof and replaced it to add Skylights. We also added A LOT of plumbing and as we opened in February discovered that for our uses will need to do some remedial wiring to support all the services. We have added makeup artists that have A-list experience and have also added catering services through my friend Chef Jacqui Wou. We are also partnering with the gorgeous Inn On Summer Hill (check it out) to offer full Spa services. All of this will be on our new website which should be launched after our photo-shoot on the 7th. I am still working on it in my spare time....Which is between 12am and 3am on every 3rd Thursday. My Soap biz, Wade In The Water has taken a backseat for now, but I did just meet with a buyer from Whole Foods and knock wood, we could reach an agreement to put it into their stores, they just added some other line(s) of soap and werent looking for new lines, however they have used it and are motivated, they just have to advocate for us. We have also been approached by a fairly famous Plastic Surgeon and some money folks to expand our services into another building and offer a destination Beauty Center. This would include Wade In The Water boutique allowing me to launch skin care, Hair care, and our mineral based makeup line. He would offer injectibles not surgical cosmetic enhancement which is the leading edge of the industry. Salon Olivier would have a Blow Dry bar, Our Makeup artists and Estheticians as well as a high end fashion boutique. However this is the beginning stage of discussion and could fall through, but it looks very very promising. We are challenged as everyone is with water rationing. We have been allotted water based on the business here in 2003-2006, That would be an antiques store with transient open hours and one person working. Potentially lethal for us if we dont make some drastic cuts in usage. we have shut off water to the garden and if necessary will be draining the fountains and using that water to keep the garden structural plants going. It is sad considering how far we have brought the garden back from the brink of death. We are also capturing as much grey water as possible to use as well. I will post more pics of the garden as it is now so you can see the beauty. Meanwhile the number 1 user of water in Montecito Water District is Oprah.....dont get me started....! We have an appeal in progress but this is the final appeal. Ultimately...nothing from nothing...is nothing. If there is no water then there is no water....but her begonias better be dying as fast as mine. All together, we are happy, healthy and are more blessed than a French Cowboy, a bald American with a big grin and a dog with a fuzzy butt should be. We hope the same is true for you.
