Salted Caramel Nutella Shortbread Recipe (as requested) 1 lb (4 sticks) butter at room temperature 1 cup sugar 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar 2 tbsps. vanilla 4 cups flour 1 13 oz jar of Nutella For the caramel sauce: 1 pkg (11oz) individually wrapped caramels 1/4 cup half-and-half Sea salt Preheat oven to 325.With an electric mixer, mix butter and sugars together until creamy. Add vanilla and mix until incorporated. Sift the flour into the butter mixture and mix until soft dough forms. Spray a 9x13 pan and press enough of the dough into the bottom to cover the pan. Bake for 20 minutes.Store the rest of the dough in the refrigerator. Cool for 20 minutes or so and spread the Nutella over the cooled crust. Remove the rest of the dough from the fridge and crumble over the Nutella. Bake another 25-30 minutes. Cool completely (I did all that the night before). Cut into small squares and place squares on counter/surface on wax/parchment paper. Unwrap all caramels and place in a microwave safe bowl with the half-and-half. Heat at 1 minute intervals stirring each time until melted. Add more cream if sauce seems too thick. Once melted, sprinkle in the sea salt. Drizzle caramel sauce over the shortbread squares. Enjoy!
