Sammy Awukus call for revolt against the President and Government is irresponsible During the weekend, I read widely circulated media reports that the National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku is calling for a ‘civil revolt’ against the Mahama-led administration. As a Ghanaian youth who once served as a Deputy Youth Organizer of NDC youth in the UK and Ireland, and now aspiring for a national political leadership position, I humbly advise all Ghanaian youth to disregard Sammy Awukus irresponsible and lawless call for revolt in our country and invest their energies into cooperating with President John Mahama as he implements policy initiatives designed to achieve the long term transformation of the Ghanaian economy to stimulate the creation of new jobs for the benefit of Ghanaian youth. President John Mahama and his NDC Government require genuine support from all Ghanaians in order to tackle the decades-old recurrence of economic challenges and not civil revolt as being preached by Sammy Awuku. Sammy Awukus comments reflect the increasing level of indiscipline, violence, irresponsibility and lawlessness among the NPP leadership as witnessed in mid August when a press conference by the national executives of the NPP turned bloody after some angry party youth stormed the headquarters with guns and machetes. Ghanaians must be reminded that this is not the first time Sammy Awuku is advocating political violence in Ghana. In 2012, he was quoted urging NPP youth in TESCON to arm themselves with pestles to fight NDC opponents during that years elections. I urge Ghanaian youth to reject all forms of rebellion being incited by the NPPs Sammy Awuku against our president and the Government. We must all remember that a political leader or party that preaches violence and revolt against the elected president can only tear the countrys peace apart if elected to power. This reckless statement by NPP leaders like Sammy Awuku shows that the NPP cannot be trusted to govern our country in peace.
