[Samson] turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, - TopicsExpress

[Samson] turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the carcase of the lion, and honey. (Judges 14:8) How interesting is a swarm of bees! They can live in a hollow tree, in a wooden box, or even in the carcass of a lion. Their city has no mayor or city manager, no city council, and no political boss. While there is a queen, she does not direct its policies or its destinies. Nevertheless, in all the realm of nature there is hardly a more efficient community. The inhabitants are all for one and one for all. There is perfect cooperation and unity of action. There is no jealousy or strife, and they do not fight among themselves. They will fight their enemies, however, and even man must be aware of their wrath. Their system of dividing up the Jobs is the best in the World. Every worker knows her precise task and does it without being told or shown by a superior, for there is no superior. In bee city there is no unemployment problem. Perhaps God wants us to learn from these fascinating little creatures how we ought to function in the assemblies of the saints. How bright and vibrant will be the testimony of the Lord where there is close cooperation and unity among the saints; where we recognize that "the enemy is the devil," and not our fellow believers; and where each member of the body is working according to his or her God-given abilities. Unlike the bees who act by instinct, we have a very real and very precious Superior who is in us and among us to glorify Christ and to guide us into all truth. How much nourishing "honey" is produced among the saints for the glory of God and the up-building of each other in love when we are in true submission to our Divine Superior.
