Samuel Aston was born to James George Aston and Mary Emma Bennett Aston on November 11, 1922 in a small coal mining town in Beading, Pennsylvania. He was the third from last child of the family and was proceeded by Edith Marie, William James, Clyde, Ralph Raymond, Horbin, James George, Thomas Herbert, Mary May, then Samuel (self), Emagene, and Evelyn. He met a beautiful girl named Viola at an LDS Conference on March 28, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA. They were married June 19, 1946 and sealed in Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1946. Soon after they were married they were blessed to start a family with four children. Three boys and a lovely daughter. Gary Lee, Joyce Viola, Thomas Clyde and Jared Ralph. They went on to have a legacy of 19 Grandchildren and 45 Great grandchildren and counting. They Lived the majority of their married life in North Las Vegas and Henderson Nevada from August 1960 until August 2011. Then Samuel and Viola took up residence in South Jordan, Utah at Legacy Retirement Center, where Sam and Viola lived at time of his death. Sam served faithfully in many church positions: YM President, Bishop, Priest Quorum Advisor, High Council and taught Seminary for 19 years in the North Las Vegas Stake. He also served in many civic duty capacities as well: Chairman of Red Cross, President of Southern Nevada Association of Life Underwriters, Chairman of civic elections, he participated in many heart and cancer drives, ran for State Assembly and School Trustee elections. He was know for being a public speaker and called on for many Priesthood blessings in Las Vegas area. Sam passed away peacefully on June 21, 2013 at 2:35 PM in Heritage Park Rehab Center, Roy, Utah. He will be remembered by all with love for being such a vital part of his community and family.
