San Diego County Diversity and Inclusiveness Group (SDCDIG) Subject: Teddys Petition (T.P.) Teddy, Rocky, Faith, Bonnie, Ernie, Pat, Judi, Jeremy, Paula, Michael, Joe, John, Arlene, Sharon, Miriam and Cynara, Next SDCDIG Board of Directors Meeting: Dates and Times to be determined (TBD) By YOU Saigon on Fifth 3900 Fifth Avenue San Diego, CA 92103 (Hillcrest) Free Validated Parking (enter on Fifth Avenue) We have been meeting once a month on Wednesdays at 1:00pm. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2 at 1:00pm. If you are unable to attend late lunch one hour meetings, please advise. We meet at Saigon on Fifth for a number of reasons. The food is out of this world and is far and away the finest Vietnamese food east of Ho Chi Minh City. We are given a virtual private dining area, parking is free, and it is so quiet you would think you were in a Fortune 500 board room. I assure you when our meetings begin, it becomes a bored room. As all of you know, Teddy did the deed either late Saturday night or very early Sunday morning. Those of you who know me realize I didnt write T.P. It would be difficult for me to make any point clear in one sentence. Among the signers of T.P. is a Commissioner who serves on the San Diego Human Relations Commission, two are leading San Diego journalists (one also writes poetry) and the other is also a leading food critic in San Diego, another is a journalist who writes a monthly column in a leading San Diego magazine, one is a major Democratic Party activist, one is a very smart individual who forgot more about politics than many of us will ever know, one is a pharmacist, one is a member of a Democratic Party club to which I belong, and one went to high school with me. Of the remaining six, if weve met, please refresh my memory with an email. Several of us have surrounded ourselves with some very, very smart people . . . you! At the conclusion of this email, I shall be providing my email address and mobile. Everyone who signed T.P. has already been elected to the San Diego County Diversity and Inclusiveness Group. As many of you know, in October 2013, our SDCDIG went before the San Diego Human Relations Commission (SDHRC) to present our case. In both September and October, the La Jolla Parade Foundation (LJPF) was also invited to these meetings but never responded. At the October 2013 meeting of the SDHRC, the Commissioners voted unanimously 15-0 stating the name Christmas must be removed from the name of the parade. The remedy decided upon was that the City of San Diego would hire the West Coast Resolution Group (WCRG) for purposes of mediation. Both parties were contacted and on November 15, the LJPF rejected mediation. Last week a lovely letter was written and sent to the two key people of this privately funded parade and sent certified mail-return receipt requested. Although this is not now or will ever be a legal matter, we decided to send them certified mail in the event they ever deny receipt of same. In our letter, nothing was mentioned about the years 1889-1958 when African Americans, Foreign Nationals and Jews were barred from purchasing houses or real property in the SAN DIEGO community of La Jolla. We did not mention their rejection of mediation. We are now in the process of meeting with major donors of this parade and, simply said, going after their funding to the LJPF. To view the names of the donors, the LJPF website is ljparade When you access their website, a drop down appears under the word Donate. Their donations amounts are not reflected but we have them on a spread sheet. We have spoken with a number of religious leaders in the San Diego are re this issue. We are asking donors to sign a small block on an original letter we provide to them. When they sign the block, we send the original to LJPF Parade Chair. If they balk, we explain to them in a diplomatic manner that after one more visit from us, the second wave will consist of silent picketing. We will be advising the electronic and print media the previous day of the time and place where we will be. We will always have one monitor and observer present. If threatened by a banker or a manager of a retail establishment that they will call the police, we do NOT respond. When the police arrive, they provide you with a first notice to disperse. When they arrive for the second time they warn you if they are called for a third response, arrests will made. Obviously, we disperse after their second response. Then another venue is selected and the 1-2-3 system of responses begin again. After # 2, we are out-of-there once more. None of us have ever been to a demonstration and none of us have ever been arrested; we intend to keep our records perfect. We will be filming our picketing and placing it each day on YouTube. Additionally, one of our board members has a connection with Comedy Central and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. If and when the Daily Show picks up this issue, one of their outside talents, AKA interviewers, will eat these people alive. The third wave will consist of full page ads in the La Jolla Light. These full page ads will be arranged by a graphic designer and an ad agency. A portion of these full page ads will consist of two columns or one might say the correct and incorrect side of a ledger: Column A. will be headed with similar words such as: Those organizations and individuals who believe in diversity, equality and inclusiveness for purposes of welcoming everyone inside the tent. Column B. will be headed with similar words such as: Those organizations and individuals who believe in the La Jolla Tradition of bigotry , exclusiveness, hate, racism and anti-Semitism. If you think those words are too soft, please let me know. To receive the entire package, to communicate by conventional email or speak with me from 7:00am-9:00pm, I look forward to hearing from you. Please copy and paste this email along with a link to T.P. and send it to all of your associates, colleagues, family, friends . . .yes, youve got it, everyone you know who is still alive. Great thanks for signing All the very best, Howard Howard G.Singer Mobile: 619.980.4586
