San Francisco: Eighty-year old Coit Tower is closing for five months to undergo renovations, the first since it was built during the Depression. Cracks in the building are being repaired, windows are being replaced to keep out moisture, and the wonderful murals on the inside walls that were the first painted under a government employment plan are being attended to by conservators. We will miss the wonderful views from the top of one of our iconic landmarks, but look forward to seeing them again from a refurbished Coit Tower in the late spring of 2014.
