Sandwiched between cars Residents and visitors to Dr Thirumurthy Nagar in Nungambakkam are a harassed lot as vehicles are parked on both sides of the road and traffic police turns a blind eye. They do not book vehicles parked there because they belong to two hotels. One is a vegetarian restaurant which serves them free breakfast and coffee, and the other a nonvegetarian one which dishes out their favourite biryani and meat dishes. There are two hospitals in the vicinity, and patients and ambulances find it difficult to enter or exit the road because of the vehicles parked on both sides. A resident of the area asks why traffic police depend on the hotels when the residents would gladly provide them three meals a day if traffic was cleared on a daily basis. - City Lights - Times of India Chennai
