Sarah Gibbons is a contemporary Christchurch artist who has studied Printmaking as a major for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Graduating in 2006. These boutique quality cards are photographic and photogram images of shadows, glassware and iconographic images. The photogram images have been made in a darkroom. This is an old process which is a dying art form as current techniques are mostly turning digital. The photogram image works on the fact that there is no negative, rather, objects, such as glassware and lace for example can be placed on top of the photographic paper and exposed to light. Then the paper is processed in chemicals such as a black and white photograph. This process gives the images an air of antiquity. This technique has gained notoriety in recent years as a modernised, antiquated avant-garde process. All cards are digitally printed on textured Conqueror off white paper and have a thick luxurious feel. The large cards come with an envelope and have a black ribbon around them. The small cards are sold individually as they are.
