Sarahs adventures - 2015 - So Ive realised that for some reason all ultra sounds technicians in Barbados seem to be 60+ women with no hearts lol . Yes this is a broad categorisation but I stand by it! So I head to Sandy Crest today and the Doctor inside is all sympathy, has my chart out and is telling me I need an ultra sound to check for damage to the Kidney and Spleen after my fall and hes very concerned about my back muscle still spasming, I definitely need to see a Physiotherapist , hes offering me pain meds and a shot ( which I refuse), cant believe that Ive been off meds for a week or that Im considering going into work. From there I go to the Ultrasound lab where the lady doing the exam is excellent, very thorough and explains all the details which I love like what that blobby thing is there and how you can tell this blob from the other blob ( Im still not convinced they dont make stuff up) . So she tells me almost everything is fine, no major damage to the organs but theres a hematoma above my spleen, no biggie. So I said ok well what do I do then? She goes, when I see a person thats been hurt I tell them think of a dog, a dog can get struck by a car, will limp for a day or two and then be back up running. Go take a sea bath . So I said well I love your philosophy but part of my prob is I didnt take this seriously when it started, the doctor is telling me bed rest, a physiotherapist and some major meds. She goes, rubbish! Go buy some Ben Gay and go for a sea bath... everyday . So now Im feeling like this woman doesnt understand my severity, so Im trying to explain you know...I have a broken rib, badly injured back muscles and you are talking about a hematoma above the spleen, its been a month of pain so shouldnt I be doing something else too? She thinks for a min and goes, well if you have to, take a panadol. Hahahaha she made my day! While I love her spirit I think Im going to go with sympathetic ( and actual certified Doctor) and be a good girl, rest up and take my meds! Next week I shall go for sea baths and buy some BenGay ( and call Monique Cabral Ramsay instead of the physio :)
