Godfather(Mario Puzo)- One of the first novels I read and introduced me to effortless storytelling which will hook me to this form of entertainment forever 2. A day of the Jackal (Fredrick Forsyth)- Taught me what a page turner means 3. Atlas Shrugged(Ayn Rand)- Thought provoking. Even as I agreed and disagreed with author and characters it was a book that made selfishness cool for me 4. Foundation, Empire and Robot series by Isac Asimov- For me both science fiction and fantasy were introduced by these books and I have been in love with these two genres ever since 5. Lord of the rings (JRR Tolkein) - For the joy of reading a story from a storyteller who enjoyed writing an extraordinary one 6. Ramayan commentary by Narendra Kohli (Deeksha, Abhiyan etc.)- It was a long time ago, but it made me look at gods in a far more humane way for ever. One who as a more matured being could not care less about how, where and when I pray or do not pray at all. Gods could never be that petty for me after reading this. 7. Volga se Ganga tak- Rahul Sanskrityan: My first brush with alternative history and an amazing childhood memory of being pampered with gifts of books I would love to read in times not so easy without flipkarts and amazons 8. Enders’ Game and Speaker of the Dead by Orson Scott Card: For its immensely well written way of making us understand how limited we are by our experiences and assumptions of foreign culture 9. Big Bang (Simon Singh): For making history of science so damn interesting 10. The Tao of Physics (Fritjof Capra): Not so much for parallels drawn between mysticism and physics but for introducing me to philosophical idea of finding peace in contradictions.
