Sat. Sept. 28, 2013 DOUBT AND MIRACLES James 1:5-8 KEY SCRIPTURE: “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed” (James 1:6). Another hindrance to miracles like unbelief considered yesterday is doubt. Doubt is not as terrible as unbelief but usually lead to unbelief. Doubt is to be double-minded on a thing. It also mean to stagger or wave in one’s belief in the word of God and His promises. In other words, doubt is not to be firm in conviction on a matter. Lack of faith is the root cause of doubt which is also an instrument in the hands of the devil. Jesus says, “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matt. 21:21). Doubt has grievous consequences. In the passage, the resultant effect of doubt is that “For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord” (vs. 6-7). Doubt amount to sin and has eternal consequence. “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Romans 14:23). Like unbelief, the ways to overcome doubt is to meditate and apply the word of God to your situations; absolutely trusting God; do not listen, read or watch things contrary to the word and will of God. Praying always instead of worrying will make you overcome doubt. Read and Meditate: 1 Timothy 2:8 Prayer: I receive victory over doubt in Jesus name. Intercession: Pick a nation that you have burden for and pray as led by the Holy Spirit for that nation, the people, the government, and for the spiritual state to receive the touch of God.
