Satgur Nanak was not born, The Guru has always been present from time immemorial. Guru just became pargat (manifested ) in a body form. To call it birth of Guru Nanak is inaccurate. Similarly, Khalsa was always present from time immemorial ( Har Jugg jugg Bhagat uppaya . ..... Kahu Kabeer jan bhaye Khalsay Prem bhagat jih jaanee ) and Khalsa was only pargat (manifested ) in 1699 in to a form that common people could aspire to benefit from . Guru Nanaks body passed away as a sikh after transferring guru-jot to Bhai Lehna and making him Guru Angad. Nanaks body stayed as a sikh of Guru Angad for about 13 or so days after that before passing on . Guru Nanak was thus the first spiritual leader in the history of mankind who transformed from being a Guru to becoming a sikh.
