Satisfaction is Reciprocated The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah says, ‘I predetermined Taqdeer and also Tadheer. I have fixed the laws of My action. I remain satisfied with one who remains satisfied with his lot till he meets Me. Whoso is dissatisfied with his lot, I also become dissatisfied with him till he meets Me.” [Ihya Ulum Id-Deen] Anas (radi Allahu anhu) said: “Those who will be called first on the Day of Resurrection will be those persons who praised Allah under all circumstances.” In other words, those who will be first to be relieved of the distress of the Day of Resurrection will be those who were content with the decree of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) in their worldly lives. Abdullah ibn Masood (radi Allahu anhu) said: “I prefer to put burning fire in my stomach than to say, ‘It would have been better if Allah had not done this’ or ‘It would have been better if Allah had done this.’” Most of what we say indicates dissatisfaction with Allah’s decree and questioning of His divine wisdom. Therefore seal your tongue, until the only words that are uttered from it are words of thankfulness to Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).
