Saturday, 10 Aug 2013 There is a threat, the U.S. Diplomatic Staff Evakuasai whole of Consulate Lahore Pakistan LAHORE, PAKISTAN (voa-islam) - The U.S. State Department to evacuate all non-essential government personnel from their consulate in Lahore city of Pakistan and warned Americans not to travel to Pakistan. A U.S. official said the State Department ordered the withdrawal is due to a specific threat on the U.S. consulate in Lahore. The official further added that the move was not related to the threat of al-Qaeda attacks that prompted Washington to temporarily close 19 diplomatic posts in the Middle East and Africa. It came when a suicide bomber attacked police at the cemetery in the city on Thursday, killing 38 people in an attack allegedly committed by the Taliban which will increase yet more concerns about the continuing violence since the newly elected government took office. Warnings in Lahore, Pakistan near the border with India, came two days after Washington evacuated several diplomats from Yemen and told its citizens to leave the country immediately. Nearly two dozen diplomatic missions closed by the United States in the Middle East after the warning across the world earlier this month. The Americans warned that Al-Qaeda may be planning attacks in August, especially in the Middle East and North Africa. U.S. Consulate in Pakistan has been attacked before. At least four Pakistanis were killed after a car bomb and grenade attack on the U.S. consulate in the northwestern city of Peshawar in 2010.
