Saturday 3rd May 2014 will see 24 pipe bands and approximately 100 dancers from around the Country participate in the Toti Highland Gathering. The average size of each band is about 20 members who amount to 440 competitors plus 100 dancers which totals 540 participants. These people are accompanied by family and supporters who require accommodation, petrol and food for four days and bring much needed revenue to the area. There are nearly 200 flea-market stalls and car dealer stands which increase year on year. These stalls bring employment and revenue into the community. Dealers attract interest and not only sell on the day but have ongoing inquiries and sales after the event. The Amanzimtoti Lions Club turn over about R400 000.00 to make a profit of approx. R170 000.00 thereby supporting local business with the expenditure but also ploughing the profits back to charities, welfare and the needy of the community.
