Saturday, 8th March INGREDIENTS FOR A FRUITFUL LIFE “Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5-8) Every good cook understands the value of a recipe in preparing a meal. And medical doctors know how essential it is for their patients to follow their prescriptions for health. In the same way, God has given us a prescription for a life of ever increasing fruitfulness. From our opening text, we see the ingredients of a fruitful life. One of such is “brotherly kindness,” that is being kind and generous to one another. The greatest expression of generosity is in sharing the life-giving message of the Gospel with someone else. We increase by sharing. Your fruitfulness depends on your generosity, your willingness to give. Fruitfulness is proof of life and God has enabled us for a fruitful life. The fruit of an orange tree is an orange; the fruit of apple trees is an apple. Now, the fruit of a Christian is another Christian. That means a fruitful Christian is one who wins souls: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Prov. 11:30). As the righteous today, you are a tree of life in your world. You are a blessing to those around you. God has planted you in that city, office, school or neighborhood so that you reach them for Jesus. You are there to make a difference. The number one way to do this is by sharing the Gospel. The Gospel is God’s answer to all of man’s problems. It is the power of God to save. Let your words and actions communicate the Good News of God’s love and grace to someone. Live each day purposefully as a witness of Christ. We are here to win souls for Christ, so let soul winning be your goal. And thus, you’ll see God touch lives in special ways through you, bringing souls into the family of God through your kindness. Be a soul winner! Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, thank you for making me a soul winner. As I pray for the unsaved in my world today, thank you for putting words in my mouth to witness your love and power, and I claim their souls unto salvation in Jesus Name. Amen.
