Saturday Evening-Good Night, My Friends! A Thought: Much Fruit! And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that The SON OF MAN should be glorified.--Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. (John 12:23-24) Emphasis Mine! If a seed is sown, its death becomes the life of the harvest, and death is the catalyst for fruit in the future. Our text is certainly a reference to the death of JESUS CHRIST, as it is HIS death that is the catalyst to eternal life. CHRIST died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and rose again the third day. Because of HIS death, and through HIS death and resurrection, all who put their faith in the atoning work of JESUS CHRIST are brought to eternal life. For one to give his life up for CHRIST is of more value than we have the ability to account, He that loveth his life shall lose it: and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal (John 12:25) To gives ones life up for JESUS CHRIST is to gain it abundantly in eternity.
