Saturday Night Scare!: Evening boys and ghouls! This weeks feature film comes a day late. Sorry, life got in the way. So we will call it..Saturday Night Scare this week. Okay, tonights feature is called The Shrine. It is about a young female journalist who is not being taken as seriously at work as she would like. So rather than be content with the trivial stories that she is assigned to cover, she takes a risk and goes to Poland where a number of tourists have been going missing. She arrives in Poland with two friends in order to get to the bottom of what is really going on. Once there they find that they are not welcome guests, and that the tourists are being murdered ritualistically. Could these killings be the result of a cult that has taken over the small village they have come to? Might they have something to do with the demonic statue out in the wilderness that is surrounded by an eerie mist that never moves or fades? Was coming to Poland a bad career move? Probably so! I found The Shrine to be an enjoyable flick. It has a few twists that will make you wonder who the bad guys really are. And there are visual elements that reminded me of The Exorcist and Bram Stokers Dracula. This particular copy has Portuguese subtitles.
