Saturday Ride Report; T.D.W. trekked to Running Springs for some runs down Exploration Trail. We pedaled to the top for our first run, then shuttled the second run. Riders present were, Joe Corrales, Joseph Warren, Michelle Allen, Roger Dumas, Tater, Single Speed Antonio, The Flyin Carrot, Tom, Dio, Wiley, and three other riders who I cant remember the names of. Our pedal up was uneventful, and the group spread out and rode the 4 mile 1,400 climb at their own pace, (at least I did!) Our first run down was a casual sighting run. I was surprised to see snow on the upper portions of the trail. We stopped and re grouped several times to make sure everyone was on track. Once we got to the bottom, we tossed the bikes on my truck, single speed mans psychedelic wagon, and Toms car and drove back up. (I know, thats cheating). Second run down, we pegged it and did not stop at all. I led the group to the bottom, and think my heart rate was 200 bpm for the last 1/2 mile! Most of us stopped for in Running Springs for awesome sandwiches on the way back. The only bummer to the ride was that Joe C. lost his car keys on his first run (which was before we got there). He had to wait for a tow truck to get home. Unfortunately, I left my strava running on our shuttle up, so I deleted it to prevent any false KOMs. My estimate is that we rode 13 miles and gained 3,000 elevation. Great times & gotta do it again!
