Saturday and Sunday mornings both--Doris old Percheron mare, Dolly, needed a little help to get up. An injection of banamine, then, Fred, John Schultz, and I , using a long nylon tow strap, connected to a soft band around the hind legs, rolled her over, and she got herself on her feet. Last evening , Dolly was moved to the new pen, in the north end of Doris barn . This area has a sand floor---NO CEMENT. The vet said last year ,,to get her off the concrete flooring.Fred hung a new wall mounted hay rack, we placed a 4x6 rubber stall mat over the sand floor under the rack, to keep her from eating on the sand, when hay trickles down . We are going to mount a catch all tub or feeder under the hay rack, to catch chaff that falls. We HOPE this will help avoid some of the problems with her ......remains to be seen.
