Saturday is the anniversary of my moms death. I was a senior in college when she died. That semester I was taking a Teaching Language Arts Class. We had to keep a journal and write a lot for our assignments. I am so grateful for this as I have a documented journal of when we first found out moms cancer had spread to her brain until after her death- which happened before the semester ended. My professor commented that she was glad I had that outlet to express my grief. I was too. One of our writing projects was to create a book of poetry. This is a poem I wrote about trying to deal with knowing my mom was going to die. It was kind of written as an acronym that spells out mother in its stanzas. dont think I can make it do that here but here it is.. love you mom! My how you have suffered and it hurts to see you hurt. My body has been shaken with grief but you have taught me to be Open to Gods will- even when we do not understand. You have taught me that in the midst of our fears we need to cry out to God, Trusting that He is near. Sometimes He has seemed so far away but I know as you know, that it is He who is leading you by the hand. His hand, that is taking your hand out of mine and leading you back to Himself. Sometimes I cant bear the thought but I know that Every life is destined by God to be brought back into HIs presence. You have taught me that this is a glorious time for those who love Him and I need to Remember all that you have taught me about learning how to live: to be a woman of faith and prayer, loving as He loves, and now youre teaching me how to die- to enter His kingdom and finally, with joy, meeting Him Face to face.
