Saturday on Fort Benning: Join us for the popular and free Kings Pond Family Campout May 17-18. Enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing and more. Bring your own camping equipment or reserve it at Outdoor Recreation. This event starts at noon May 17. To reserve your spot, call Outdoor Rec at 706-545-7978. Miss Georgia contestants will host the annual Salute to the Troops concert from 7-9pm May 17 on Wetherby Field. This event is free and fun for the whole family. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, but leave your coolers and pets at home please. Concessions will be available. MWR will host the annual Reverse Sprint Triathlon 5K Run, 20K Bike, 550m Swim at 8am May 17, starting at the Family Entertainment Center on Fort Benning’s Main Post. Register at active or Smith Fitness Center. The fee is $45 for individuals or $75 per team. Onsite registration increases by $10. The first 100 to register will receive a free t-shirt. Uchee Creek hosts fishing tournaments the third Saturday of each month, with pot payouts for overall winners and Big Fish winner. Boats are available for rent on site, and active duty military will receive rental discounts. Participants must have a Georgia/Alabama fishing license. The entry fee is $40 per boat and $15 for the Big Fish contest. The next tournament is May 17. Register at the Uchee Creek Country Store or online at benningMWR. This event is open to the public.
