Saturdays match report North Manchester travelled to Beechfield knowing a victory would put them one point behind the league leaders. The game started with North on the front foot but it was Beechfield who would strike first with a breakaway goal against the run of play. The reply was typical of the way North Manchester have played so far this season. A beautiful team goal began with Carlton Jordan playing a disguised pass into Long, who moved the ball forward to Duffy who held off his man and played it off to Abbott. The forward then sharply side stepped his marker and hit an unstoppable low drive to level,1-1. The second half began with Beechfield passing the ball with increasing confidence. A long speculative ball from Norths defence was won surprisingly by a real collectors item, a Duffy header. It fell to Andy Long on the edge of the box, he shifted it onto his so called weaker foot and then cleverly lifted the ball over the keeper , 2-1. The celebrations from the North Manchester players was too much for the Beechfield sideline who aimed a racist slur at Leon Jordan. The usually cool headed defender told the culprit that he was bang out and would shortly be banged out. Carlton reinforced the message and the screech of car tyres was heard shortly afterwards. Another breakaway allowed a soft equaliser for Beechfield and the game looked to heading for a draw. The North Manchester players would not settle for this and pushed for a winner. A ball into the box was flicked into Carlton Jordans path who was fouled as he hit over, penalty! Matty Burke picked up the ball but sensibly backed down leaving it for OBrien who calmly slotted. 3-2. With minutes remaining the back four held firm and was typified by Casey rushing off his line to bravely dive at the forwards feet, he had largely been a spectator but remained alert to secure the points. A brilliant victory that has thrown the league wide open, and keeps the possibility of an unprecedented treble going.
