Saudi Arabia denies clearance for Biman to operate Kabo Air 747 to Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has reportedly denied clearance for a Boeing 747 aircraft leased byBiman Bangladeshh Airlines fromKabo Air to conduct Hajj servcies, stating the aircraft is "too old for Saudi clearance. The leased aircraft is 21 years old, whereas Saudi regulations stipulate that no aircraft over 20 years would be provided clearance to operate, althoughBiman Bangladesh Airlines MD claims the aircraft is 20 years old, adding: “Kabo should have applied earlier to theGeneral Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia for clearance earlier”. He also noted that the carrier has to pay USD11,750 per flying hour for the aircraft.Civil Aviation AuthorityBangladesh (CAAB) had previously blacklisted Kabo for committing fraud in leasing an aircraft in 2009.
