Save the Children India #Uttarakhand Flood Crisis- New threat as glaciers melt to form lake Our ground team reports that a lake has formed after melting of glaciers at Satopath Tal in Chamoli district and it poses a danger to the rain-ravaged areas of Joshimath, Badrinath, Gobindghat and Karnaprayag. The government has put these areas on high alert as there are chances of another round of floods if the heavy rainfall continues. Meanwhile, our ground team has started transporting the relief material to Gobindghat. There are areas like Pandukeshwar and Lambagargh near Gobindghat, which still remain inaccessible due to broken roads and daily landslides. A part of our team has managed to get in touch with the stranded families and are figuring out a way to transport relief material to these areas.
