Save the Dates: Thanksgiving, November 27, and Black Friday, November 28, 2014 The Goal: To send a message of solidarity to the average working people of America and a warning to the Corporatocracy! How?: A two day consumer boycott of credit cards for buying Christmas gifts On Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, dont use credit cards to buy Christmas gifts. Use cash or debit cards instead. Make your familys Christmas, 2014 a joyous and less material occasion; make Christmas, 2014 a retail disaster for the corporatocracy, credit card companies, and the banks. Buy less expensive gifts or make homemade gifts for your family this Christmas! Our Long-Term Goal: To replace the minimum wage with a Living Wage! If the United States had a Living Wage based on the price of food, clothing, shelter, heating fuels, gasoline and diesel fuel, transportation fares, charges for doctors and dentists services, medicines, childcare, and other goods and services that people buy for day-to-day living, this would raise the standard of living for millions of American families and provide them a greater sense of financial security. Using the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to calculate a Living Wage would raise the standard of living for millions of average working Americans, contribute to lowering inflation by tying wages to prices, and remove the politicians in Congress and the State Legislatures from debating the minimum wage, and thus your familys standard of living. It would also remove the corporate lobbyists feet from the Scale of Economic Justice. Prices will speak for themselves and the Living Wage would determine itself. What about Starter Jobs? We could have a youth minimum wage which would allow employers to pay employees under 18 years of age a lower wage for 90 calendar days after they are first hired. Any wage rate above the youth minimum wage may be paid to eligible workers during this 90 day period.
