Saw Morphine: Journey Of Dreams last night. I encourage anyone who loves music, and loves a great story to go see this film, whether or not you know the music of the band. Watching how the band formed, seeing some of their processes, the relationships within the band and their team, and their rise to success up to the untimely death of front man Mark Sandman, was nothing short of inspiring and deeply moving (with plenty of funny moments). Hats off to Austin director Mark Shuman. I urge every artist, no matter what kind of art you do, to see this film. Mark Sandman experimented out in the open, improvising live, modifying various instruments, fearlessly, and unapologetically. There is another screening on Wednesday at the State Theater (at 7:15 check Austin Film Fest site for details). There will be general admission tickets for only $12.
