Saw a post on here a few days ago about a place to set your problems down and they inspired this... The Wall Walking down the street one day I came upon a crowd And curiously I stopped to find more They were standing there so solemn, some weeping with heads bowed And I wondered what this gathering could be for A table sat with a sign that read “Write down your troubles here” And pin them with the others on the wall For a worry shared is a worry halved. So friend please do not fear It will help to share your troubles with us all” So I took a piece of paper and I wrote down all my need Blind selfishness let me write down quite a few But before I pinned my note up I took the time to read The other notes hanging there on view I read of a mother’s anguish at the losing of her Son I saw grief there, desperation, sorrow, pain I read about a lost Soldier who had fallen to the gun And his father’s yearning to meet with him again One poignant note just simply said “ I wish my Mummy would get well” Placed there by a child just six years old A little girl had written “I know I shouldn’t tell But I wish we weren’t so hungry and so cold” Not a single one amongst them sought someone else to blame For all the suffering that was up there on display With each anguished page I looked at, I hung my head in shame I looked at my note, tore it up, and humbled, stepped away.
